Trail Rides

OPEN RIDING

Visitors must provide their own equine, tack and camping equipment. We do not provide equine for rent. 

Gyp Hills Trail Rides is open to campers and riders with advanced reservations. Your visit can be scheduled at any time, except during organized rides and private events listed below. Visitors will be given a map with boundaries and landmarks of the land available to ride. We also offer guided rides for groups upon request. We welcome groups of all kinds, from saddle clubs, church groups, 4-H clubs, etc.  

In the past we have also hosted cattle drive events. Please call if you are interested in this type of event.

Costs for an Open Riding visit is $10 per day, per person. Contact us directly to reserve a space for your party.

Outdoor pens available for $10 per night, with a maximum of 2 equine per pen. 

Electric hook-ups are now available at 5 campsites and can be reserved. Cost is $25 per night, and the cost includes access to one outdoor pen. Contact us to reserve an electric campsite. 

MAY 4 & 5, 2024:  ALL WOMEN'S RIDE

Our first Spring organized ride is also known as "Carry's Cavalry" after Medicine Lodge celebrity Carry Nation. Gather a group of your best girlfriends and enjoy an all women trail ride through the Gyp Hills countryside.  No men allowed! 

Ride Details:

  • Ride departs at 10 am on Saturday
  • Held rain or shine
  • Pack your own chow
  • Ride departs at 9 am on Sunday

Cost - $40 access fee per person in camp. 

We now have outdoor pens available ($10 per night).

We also have five campsites with electric hookups (cost is $25 per night, and the cost includes 1x outdoor pen). Contact us to reserve an electric campsite. 

Riders and campers may arrive at noon on Friday, and depart by 5 pm on Sunday. 

May 30 - June 2, 2024 - Reserved for Kicking Bear Camp 

We will not be taking reservations for private trail riding during this event. 

September 27-29, 2024 - Peace Treaty Festival & Pageant

Come ride the beautiful Gypsum Hills and explore many activities in Medicine Lodge area including Medicine Lodge Intertribal Powwow, Rodeos, Historical Night Show, and Peace Treaty Parade.

No guided rides will be provided, but you are welcome to ride on your own or with other groups. 

Cost - $30 access fee per person for the weekend.
